In the recent 30 years, about 40 kinds of new pathogeny and related diseases have been found. Among them there are 14 kinds of epidemics in China. While the new are found, some old diseases that were controlled in the past come back again. Human beings are faced with the dual threats from the new and old diseases. The new include AIDS, mad cow disease, SARS, avian influenza, etc. And the old include schistosomiasis, TB disease, etc. These new and old diseases may cause the problems to public health in local or even in the world.
The control of hospital infection, disinfection and isolation are been paid special attention to in developed countries. In China, a thousand million Yuan are lost in the hospital infection because of the poor condition, shortage of funds, and little awareness of the problem. It has been reported that the scale of related disinfection business can reach hundreds of billion. According to conservative estimates of Association of China Clinic Medical Engineering, only the sales of disinfectant products are more than 50 billion yuan.
